Seasons Greetings Air-Cooled VW Enthusiasts!

This Winter newsletter signals updates to both of our air-cooled web sites, so check out our two new feature VWs, coverage of Bug Fest 2011, another great article from VolksWoman and a new Dub-toon from Daniel Mosher! Editors Note: We are currently looking for feature Volkswagens for Spring 2012. So send in some pictures of your air-cooled Volkswagen and it's story to mail@superbeetles.com - Subject: Feature my Ride!

VolksWoman writes, "Near the end of September, Rob and I began preparing for the Vintage VW Veteranentreffen, held in Solvang, CA, near Santa Barbara.  The first one - in 1990 - had been so much fun we decided to attend this event every year. This time we drove Oscar (my restored 1958 Bug convertible) instead of Vernon, my 1959 Single Cab who'd taken us there and back in 1990.  Follow along as my photographic memory recalls the events of the trip..." The Winter Spotlight at SuperBeetles is the story of an original-owner Beetle. Owner Melanee writes, "I was so excited to have my first “real job” with a ‘real paycheck”.  I saved every penny I made and went to buy a 1979 Bug.  My local VW dealer (Bill Cruise in Wheeling) had a triple black.  My favorite color is red so that just wasn’t going to do.  The said they would not trade for a different color.  I drove to Washington PA (Scott Motors) and they had a triple white.  Lucky for me they were more accommodating and agreed to trade something else in stock for a red Bug they found. " Read - I Bought Her New...

AllAirCooled's Feature for the Winter 2011 is a '69 Westy that has traveled all over the world! Inderpal Gill writes, "So briefly about the history, this Bus was purchased by my uncle Mr. Dhillon from Hamburg Germany on special order for RHD, against full payment in advance and nine months waiting under tourist sales delivery program. He was working with merchant navy and his ship was docked near Hamburg, he purchased with an idea that he would keep the Bus on ship and drive and camp around when the ship docks. He was a great adventurer..." Read - Italy-Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan and Finally India...

In the Event Coverage section Daniel Mosher takes a trip to Bug Fest 2011. Daniel writes, " To say that I was thrilled to go to my first VW car show is a gross under exaggeration.   I was like a kid privileged enough to actually visit Santa's workshop at the North Pole.  It was F.A.O. Schwartz for grown-up Volkswagen aficionados.   Why I had never been to a show, ages before, is a very long and boring story and not for here.  Yes, I have been a fan of the VW ever since a tot being shown the engine in the back by my Uncle Tom, who lived next door and who owned a pre-63 Beetle.  After high school, my second car was a VW Rabbit L Diesel (my dad insisted that my first car be a bit larger... a '74 Buick Apollo).  My second VW was a '74 1303 Super Beetle, etc etc etc.  The passion never faded and continues to this day." As you know Daniel Mosher is back in the VW groove and has sent his latest Dub-toon for AllAirCooled.com. What Daniel has drawn is not so much a cartoon but more of an illustration. An Illustration that you might call it a vintage VW owners worst nightmare ...a tailgating trucker. Check out his latest creation...
