November 1, 2009: Guess what? I'm selling my 1975 La Grande Super Beetle. I know, I know, how could I do that? It's been a long time coming but after owning it for fourteen years it's time for a change. In the past I have owned a 1971 Fiat Spyder convertible, Suzuki Samurai, a few motorcycles and I have always loved the "open air" feeling. There is nothing like a warm summer day cruising around with the top down with the tunes playing. So I'm going to sell my MINT Beetle and start looking for a convertible in the spring. It won't be easy for me to let her go, but whoever buys it will get one of the nicest Super Beetles on the road anywhere!
November 21, 2009: I got a real good lead on selling my Beetle this week, actually two of them. First of all a guy in Toronto called that collects vintage vehicles and he is very interested in my Super Beetle. We are going to touch base in about a week and he's going to drop by and see it at my work where it's in storage. The second person saw it last weekend when I left it a local mall with a "For Sale" sign in the window. He asked a lot of questions and is going to call in a week as well.
I really have such mixed feelings over selling it. I know that I will never find another SB in this shape anywhere and when I had it detailed at work it looked so pretty sitting under the wash bay lights, sigh. If I had a four car garage (ala Jay Leno) it wouldn't be going anywhere. But ...after owning it for fourteen years it is time for a change. All I want to know is that my VW goes to a loving home where it will get a new name and become part of another family that will love it as much as we do.
