June 1, 2009:
Hey! Welcome to another air-cooled month at SuperBeetles.com! I honestly can't believe how fast I got the site(s) together this month. It must have something to do with the beautiful summer weather that we've been having. Everything just seems nicer. I wrote an article for the Punch Buggy 4 SickKids event for the site and I think that I've created one of the nicest Desktop images ever, you be the judge! It's been great for me because I've been doing this all WITHOUT glasses. I had one of my eyes lasered last month for reading and I'm finally getting used to it, IT IS AWESOME! Don't forget the June Jitter Bug VW show on June the 21st in Niagara Falls, hope to see you there!

June 9, 2009: I drove my Super Beetle to work today to have the rust on the left rear pillar looked at. It's been slowly rusting from the inside for about 5 years and I have to finally do something about it. When we were at the Punch Buggy event I noticed a few people pointing at the rust bubbles and being a perfectionist it was driving me crazy. Being a perfectionist isn't easy or fun, you set standards for yourself and everything else that are so high that you can't possibly ever meet them. Like at work the other day someone told me that it looked like I had put on a little weight. I weighed myself when I got home and I was 182 pounds. Hmmm, I always thought I was 175. So right away I made all of these changes to my diet. I eat at 6:15am, fruit at 10am, raw veggies for lunch at 12:30, apple at 3:30, one liter of water per day, and a smaller dinner as early as possible. No snacks at night, no coffee double-double and only a 1/2 glass of red wine a day I have been working out and walking for an hour a day, maybe the 5 pound gain is muscle? All I know is that one comment sent me running for the diet pills, figuratively speaking. I guess I have got to calm down a bit and just accept that we all change.

Anyway I am getting away from my VW adventure from today. While on the way home I stopped at the Beer Store to pick up a case of Fruli Beer and when I came out a guy was sitting in a newer Volkswagen and told me all about his '73 Super that was his first car, all the time my mother was "on hold" listening in to the conversation on my Blue Tooth. Then a lady came over to tell me about the Beetle that she used to own. Apparently it was denim blue and had a big zipper painted on it from the jean company GWG. Back in the day they used to pay her $20.00 a week for advertising which "Used to pay for my gas" she said. When I finally got under way my mom asked me if it's always like that, people stopping me to talk about the Bug. I told her that even if I was driving a bright yellow Ferrari it wouldn't attract as much attention as my Super Beetle. Funny and I have been thinking about selling it to buy a Porsche Boxster, shame on me

June 15, 2009: Check this out! I have been trying to get my Beetle on a Music Award show that is held here in Toronto each year. It's put on by a tv station called Much Music and the event is called the Much Music Video Awards. Like most classic car owners I'd love to see my VW on national television and this year it's going to happen. I got a call from Universal Music and they want to drive Canadian pop artist Shiloh up to the Red Carpet this Sunday in my SB. They actually wanted to rent the car off me but I wouldn't let anyone else drive it so they said that I could. They also wanted to pay me for using it but I told them to make a donation to my charity instead. To be honest when I got the call I had never even heard of her and was told that she has sort of an Avril Lavigne style to her. I looked her up on You Tube and heard her song Operator and I knew it. It's a Pop-Ska sort of song and pretty catchy. I still have to firm up he details but it is going to happen and I'm pretty excited about it!

June 22, 2009: WHAT A WEEKEND! It started out on Friday when my wife and I drove to Ottawa to see my son Wes graduate from College. After the ceremony we headed downtown to have drinks at a restaurant called "18" and then dinner at "The Foundation", both we awesome. Oh yeah, I got the details about Shiloh before we left so that was on for Sunday. We stayed overnight, had brunch and then headed back to Toronto at warp speed. When got back we had a new roof that was installed when we were away, so of course I had to crawl all over it to make sure that it was done properly. It was and it looks pretty nice. After that it was dinner and bed. The June Jitter Bug was Sunday morning (Fathers Day) and the plan was to drive to Niagara Falls for the show and make it back it time to re-wash the Bug and head downtown to the MMVAs. Well I'm sorry to say that this was the first year that I missed the JJB. I just couldn't bring myself to do all of that driving after the ten hours of driving back and forth to Ottawa. I'll go next year for real.

I left for Downtown Toronto about 6pm and met up with Shiloh, her manager and bodyguard about 7:15. She is so nice! We were supposed to cue up for the Red Carpet and I told her that she should wait in the Hummer because the Bug has no A/C. She told her bodyguard to hit it and we had about an hour of great conversation while we were waiting in line. We laughed so much. Behind us were The Black Eyed Peas and there were celebrities everywhere. The moment came and I drove my Beetle onto the Red Carpet to the cheers of her fans, Shiloh popped out of the door and walked around to the drivers side of the Bug to be interviewed. I got the signal to drive off camera and away I went home. Since the Red Carpet was recorded with a delay I made it home just in time to see my Beetle make its debut on our 50 flat. SWEET! I'm going to try and find the clip of my car so I can post it on the site for you all to see. I'm not going to do that whole thing again next year, it's just one more thing off my bucket list. Here's some pictures I took at the Much Music Video Awards. Check it!

June 29, 2009: Where did June go? Already it's the end of the month and I am just getting started on the web site, I really have to get my *ss in gear. We had a busy weekend and went up to our friends Marina in Sturgeon Lake Ontario. Another couple was there with us and we went for a pontoon boat ride to Fenlon Falls and had a nice lunch on Saturday. That was followed later that night by a big BBQ and and even bigger fire pit with lots of game playing and drinking fun stuff. On Sunday it looked like rain but we still took the pontoon boat over to Bobcaygeon for breakfast. It started to pour on the way back and Caroline and I managed to crawl under a tarp to keep the rain away. I asked but no one else would come under to get away from the downpour. When we got back everyone was totally soaked. I mean they looked like they took a shower with their clothes on. Cariliine and I however were totally dry . The only sad thing about the weekend was that there were no ducks to feed on the dock. I love that...
