August 1, 2009:
Hello world! You might have wondered where I have been but it's been one heck of a month for me. We were on holidays and ended up doing renovations to our home for the entire week. The only day that I took off was my birthday when we went to the local pub to watch a Karaoke contest. I was never so glad to go back to work. I also took a week off from my working out but still managed to keep my weight at 175 and I have to say that I'm pretty proud of myself. I'm now back to walking at lunch and enjoying my raw veggies at noon. I rode my bike to work this week and I'm feeling great. We've got another week off coming up this month and we're going to be heading south to the D.R. for a week in November. Unfortunately my Beetle has been on the back burner and I missed another VW show due to the rain last month. I don't like to think about it but summer is really coming to an end and it's going to be time to send my Super in the the body shop to get that cancerous rust removed from my right rear pillar.

August 18, 2009: My wife and I just got back from a weekend at our friends cottage on Stoney Lake. Steve's parents own an island in the Kawathas and his family has about five million dollar + cottages on it. We drove up with him, my son and his wife and took the boat over to Pine Island. The water there was so warm it felt like we were in Mexico again and at night we had a HUGE bonfire with Brad jumping it after a few drinks. We ended up dancing around the fire like some sort of tribal ritual, what a laugh. The fire was so hot... how hot was it? We had to sit about twenty feet back and use ten foot branches to toast our marshmallows.

When we got back I washed our two Honda Fits and then I noticed my poor little VW sitting in the garage. I don't think that I've driven it for two weeks, shame on me. So I washed and waxed it and we took a little cruise down through Streetsville. It was nice to be behind the wheel of my trusty VW again

August 20, 2009:
Caroline and I just got back from Fallsview Casino where I won about $750.00 on the GIANT Wheel of Fortune slot machine. We had Dinner at Noir 17 and had a great time staying at the Radisson Hotel about a block from Fallsview. The room was pretty nice but the beds felt like the pillow top was made out of plywood and the pillow were as thin as a sheet of paper, otherwise it was a pretty nice place to rest your head.

Later today we went to the AMC24 to see District 9 and about a 1/2 hour from the end the film stopped and the power went out. This was around 7:00pm and no one knew what was going on. I went to lobby only to find out that there was a huge storm underway and the both ends of the complex were flooded. We were all herded into one cinema because there was a tornado warning for Mississauga. We took off after a bit and found branches everywhere on our property but no damage at all. Watching the news later during the night it turned out that one person was killed during the storm and about 150 homes were damaged with some being destroyed. Holy!

August 21, 2009: We're heading up to the cottage for the weekend and I finally booked a holiday for the end on November at the Iberostar Daiquiri in Cayo Guillermo Cuba. It feels good to have that out of the way and gives me something to look forward to for when it gets cold up here in Canada.

August 25, 2009: I got an email about a month ago from Mclellans Automotive expressing interest in SuperBeetles.com and my history with the Volkswagen Beetle. Today I got another email from Editor Mona Nath with a link to their monthly newsletter were they feature my web site http://www.mclellansautomotive.com/newsletter/. I think it is really pretty cool and very flattering, check it out.
