August 15, 2007: Off/On
Holidays: We're off for the last two weeks of holidays for the year
and just got back from a trip to Ottawa to visit my son Wes. While there
we did all the usual touristy things. We saw the Parliament buildings,
went to the beach, visited a quarry in Quebec where you can swim and
bungie jump, and went on a tour of the city on a bus/boat called the
"Lady Dive III". This strange vehicle drives on the streets
and then right into the water to cruise around the Ottawa River. It
was pretty cool. Total VW sightings was two. There was an orange one
that drove past our hotel and we spotted another at a service station
that specializes in air-cooled Beetles. They even had this picture painted
on their wall. Nice
August 24, 2007: Appraisal Time: I got a letter from Silver Wheels Insurance saying it was time to get the Beetle appraised again. Every five years they want a new one to keep an eye on the value of the vehicle. When I got it done eleven years ago it came in at $6,400. Five years later the value was $10,000, but that guy didn't have a clue. He asked me how much I wanted it for, so I said 10K. I'm not planning on selling it but if it ever got stolen or written off in an accident it would be nice to have some cash to start looking again. I don't know what it is worth in 2007 but I'll let you know when the report comes in. If you need and appraisal done in the GTA call Joe at Kavanagh Appraisal Service (647) 283-3423, he seems like a good guy that really takes an interest in what he does. |
