Hey, my name is Troy and I'm a 17-year-old living in Charlotte, North Carolina. For my 15th birthday, I was sold this restored 1979 convertible Super Beetle from my grandfather, who lives in Louisiana. At the time, I lived in Tampa, Florida and quickly fell in love with it. I think it is the perfect beach car. The first thing you'll notice about it is the California flames. Since purchasing it in good condition from a woman in Louisiana, my grandfather had it refurbished in 2002. The engine was removed and rebuilt for performance by a company called Sacco. The engine compartment was enclosed in a chrome firewall. The car was also given completely new black carpeting, windshield, yellow and white pattern leather seats, tires, wheels, hubcaps, brakes & lines, muffler & loud pipes, and convertible top with matching yellow and white pattern cover. It was painted Pennzoil Yellow by a shop in Louisiana called Manhattan Auto and given a custom California flame job that transfers from red to yellow to white, the original color of the car. So far, I haven't worked on it too much myself. For my 17th birthday I purchased a Varad ULX300 Undercar lighting kit. It has 1000 colors and several patterns to keep me busy. For more information you can visit www.varad.com. I've also done a few little touches like strobes and rope lighting in the engine compartment, new headlights, and better quality windshield wipers. I go to car shows and VW club events occasionally and it gets good attention. My main concern for the future is to take as best care I can for her. Eventually, I would like to get a better sound system and some exhaust tips. Thanks for taking a look. About
