Kobi's 1973 Super Beetle

It all began in the summer of 2000. I was just released from my service in the army and was looking for something that would keep me busy. Then I saw her. She was near my home and in a bad condition. She was covered in rust and got hit by a bus on the left side. I went into the store where the owner was and there he was there drinking a beer. At that time I was driving in my 50cc motorbike. Before I could ask who the car belonged too the man asked me if I wanted to replace my motorbike with the car! Immediately I agreed and we took each others keys home that Friday night. In Israel Saturday is a holy day and we don't work so on Sunday I went to check the car out. It was a1303 Super Beetle with 1300cc engine. The car was in good condition but the body was full of rust and dents. I called my friend and we checked the engine and it was in good condition. We took the car to a garage replaced the engine with a 1600cc and changed the quarter windows to a pop out style like that on the 1303LS. Later I had my 1303 painted black. People always ask me why black, since Israel is a very hot country. I always answer that I will get an air conditioner one day and I seriously intend to do that.
