Karen's 1974 Super Beetle

Meet Spike. He’s my sidekick and partner in crime. Oh yeah, and he’s also a 1974 Super Beetle. I first saw Spike in an ad on Craigslist. It was love at first sight. I had to have him but my pockets were filled with lint. So I sold T-shirts, won an online contest for $500 and took out what little money I had in my 401k.In the looks department, Spike was perfection. But on the inside, Spike had hidden damage from an unknown past accident. I say unknown because Spike was sold at auction after his previous owner abandoned him and the middleman I bought the car from knew nothing of Spike’s past or possible special needs.Since March 1, 2007, the magical day I bought Spike, I have had repairs on everything from the muffler to the odometer to the gas pedal and I look forward to pouring all future earnings into perfecting every inch of the coolest car that ever lived. My vanity improvements so far include covering the front seats in Betty Boop paraphernalia and of course Betty Boop floor mats. Lucky for me, Spike's a good sport.By the way, Spike may look familiar to you if you are a James Taylor fan since I drove Spike in a documentary called The Troubadours that came out this Spring. You can click this link and see Spike appear at the one minute mark as the title of the film appears on the car! I am excited to find the community at SuperBeetles.com and I am pleased to share Spike and his tale with you all!
