Danielle's 1971 & 1974 Beetles

My mother read the paper every morning before breakfast and she's the one that found the ad. It advertised a '71 Blue Beetle that needs work, $1,000. This being the first beetle I ever looked at in hopes to buy, I didn't know what I was looking for. When we went to see it, it was in pretty good condition. All it needed was a loving touch and some paint. It ran very well, had a blower on the heater, chrome trim around the windows, and the original bill of sale. He tossed in a many extra parts and sold the beetle to me for $900. I knew I had gotten one heck of a deal, since my bug came with a lot of the extra options offered in '71 models.

Within a week I had another Beetle. This time I picked out an almost fully restored '74 Beetle in baby blue. The man I bought it from had restored it for his daughter who loved it so much she even had the car in her senior pictures. With a fresh coat of paint the car was mine for $3,000. Although my '74 didn't have all the extras that my '71 had I fell in love with it right away. All of my friends loved my car. They are more than willing to let me drive when we go out on weekends. People often stop me to ask me questions about her and regale me with VW stories. One time a guy with his minivan full of children followed me to work to ask me what year my bug was. I never get tired of hearing the compliments and watching the stares as I pass by in my blue baby.
