Throughout the summer of 2003 I was still looking for my Bug and hoping to find a pre 67. That August I came across a 1970 for sale that looked to be in good shape. It was originally from California, but was brought to Canada about 6 years ago. Mind you it was much more current than I wanted, but the price was right. As it turns out, it would be my first Bug. I have not done a whole lot to the car yet, in the pictures it is almost exactly how I bought it. Mind you, there is a long list of changes to be made. (One of my other hobbies include machining. I have access to my own shop and have a lengthy list of parts to be made for my car). Before I bought the car it had a recently rebuilt single port 1600 installed. Which is pretty much mechanically stock, but cosmetically, it has a bit done to it. The interior has been redone with tan velour and brown vinyl. As for the wheels, it has Porsche 914 replicas with Yokohama z rated P195/55R15s all around. The previous owner had it repainted black, over the original light yellow colour. The paint job is horrible, there are places they missed, and places they over-sprayed. It looks all right from the outside, but if you start peeking around, it is easy to spot the faults. It came with an after market steering wheel and the gas tank was recently replaced. I like to think of this as my summer car. But since it's my only car, it's my winter car too! (I don't have the heart to punish it through the harsh Canadian winters, it sits in storage until the nice weather comes) I also want to clean up the engine and trunk and detail the whole car throughout, it's just a matter of time.
